YEREVAN. - Prosecutor is an “all-seeing eye” of the state, but under democratic rule it also serves as a shield against arbitrariness of officials, violations of human rights and fundamental freedoms of citizens, said Prosecutor General of Armenia Aghvan Hovsepyan on the occasion of 93rd anniversary of Judiciary and Day of Prosecutor’s Office.
In this context Hovsepyan stressed the vitality of deepening ties with the society, increasing the level of support and trust.
“The studies say that Prosecutor’s office web page is the most transparent among those of official institutions. This was possible [to achieve] due to the fairness of our work,” said the Prosecutor General.
Aghvan Hovsepyan stressed that the prosecution system of Armenia was subjected to fundamental reforms three times. Due to the consistent work of the prosecutor’s office, Armenia improved its position and moved from a group of countries under special control to the second group in the U.S. State Department report on trafficking.
According to the Prosecutor General, current areas of priority include combat against corruption and drug trafficking, development and implementation of a uniform policy of law enforcement.
