YEREVAN. - Speaking in ultimatum is not the best approach, particularly given that opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC) leader once held the office of president and undoubtedly realizes that the language of ultimatum is not the best manifestation of democracy, said the secretary of ruling Armenian Republican Party parliament group Eduard Sharmazanov to Armenian News-NEWS.am.
“The authorities clearly stated their readiness for a dialogue. We envisage the advance of political procedure in cooperation with other political forces, ANC among others. But we have to realize that we cannot choose a direction, where even a little unrest can turn into a serious blow at our country and society. This is the position of authorities but the opposition also must refrain from adventurist and unconstructive steps,” said Sharmazanov.
According to him, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan has put it clearly in his speech that the Prime Minister, Speaker of the Parliament and the Head of presidential staff are open for substantial discussions with ANC.
“Moreover, in my statement as the spokesman of our party I stressed that the party is ready to voice the sound and constructive suggestions of extra-parliamentary opposition during the sittings,” he said. “If that does not satisfy our partners, I get the impression that they do not indent to dialogue, rather they aim to use the summer to raise fuss among the dissatisfied voters and thus improve their rating.”
