RA Serzh Sargsyan’s visit to Turkey immediately after the Armenia-Turkey Protocols’ signing in Zurich is a very important event, Turkish President Abdullah Gul stated. Armenia and Turkey are not writing history, but creating it, Turkish Yeni Safak reports quoting Gul’s words.

According to him, the ice in the Ankara-Yerevan relations is melting, but it would not be done within a day. The Armenia-Turkey relations have considerably improved over the recent years and the sides are cooperating for the process to progress, Gul said. Creating a spirit of cooperation in the whole region is of paramount importance.

Besides, the Turkish President underlined the significance of progress in the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process. High-level discussions of the problem are in progress. A year ago it was not so. It is important that the issue is high on the international agenda, Gul said. According to him, the OSCE Minsk Group U.S., Russian and French Co-Chairs on Nagorno-Karabakh are making every effort to resolve the conflict. Turkey, on its part, takes into account all the opinions, but itself is dealing with the problem.
