The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine 2021 has been awarded to American physiologist  David Julius and Lebanese American Armenian molecular biologist and neuroscientist Ardem Patapoutian “for their discoveries of receptors for temperature and touch,” the Nobel committee informed on its website.

The Nobel Assembly at the Karolinska Institute—and which includes 50 professors—determines the laureates of this Nobel prize.

Respective candidates can be nominated from September to January 31 of the following year.
