Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Russia and Iran Sergey Lavrov and Hossein Amirabdollahian will hold talks in Moscow on Wednesday.

As reported the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this meeting will be the continuation of another dialogue between the foreign ministers of both countries following their telephone conversation on September 9, 2021.

During the talks, the foreign ministers “will synchronize their timetables” with respect to other current topics on the regional agenda, including the situations in the Caspian Sea, Transcaucasia, the Persian Gulf zone, Yemen, Lebanon and the Middle East.

The ministers will particularly focus on the situation regarding the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action with respect to Iran’s nuclear program and will substantively discuss the situation in Afghanistan in the context of the fundamental importance of an effective response to the emerging challenges.

In regard to the settlement of the Syrian issue, Moscow’s and Tehran’s fundamental stance is the support to unconditional respect for Syria’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity and the Syrians’ lawful right to determine their country’s future independently.
