Detaining former Minister of Defense of Armenia Davit Tonoyan is an attempt to put on a show. This is what former Minister of Defense of Armenia, head of the opposition “Armenia” faction of the National Assembly Seyran Ohanyan told reporters today.

“It is necessary for the authorities to distract the public’s attention. If Davit Tonoyan and other high-ranking servicemen received notices, they would go to the National Security Service at ease, and there wouldn’t be needless searches and rhetoric,” he stated, adding that the rhetoric towards the army has become a tool for the authorities.

“They [the authorities] talk about the shortcomings of the army, and this only favors the enemy,” Ohanyan added.
