The Armenian side needs to consider and grasp the opportunities of the "3 + 3" negotiation format. Vahagn Aleksanyan, a member of the majority "Civil Contract" Faction, said this Friday during the traditional press briefings at the National Assembly of Armenia—and when asked about the possibility of imposing that format on Armenia.

According to the lawmaker of the Armenian ruling power, it is necessary to determine the possible expediency of this format.

"We [i.e., Armenia] are now at the analysis stage [of this format]. Moreover, it is worth reminding that the Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, has already stated from the tribune of the parliament that, for starters, it is necessary to form a better idea about that format, to understand what it is about, what goals are pursued, what parties are involved, what interests will be pursued, and only after that to already form one’ own idea about the above-mentioned format," Aleksanyan added.

To note, following his talks in Moscow with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, Russian FM Sergey Lavrov had stated Wednesday that he had discussed with his Iranian colleague the initiative to establish a "3 + 3" negotiation format with the engagement of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Turkey. It is, in particular, about unblocking economic and transport links in the region.
