The court of general jurisdiction of Shirak Province of Armenia has granted the petition by the provincial prosecutor's office to remand Gyumri resident K. Madoyan, 56, in custody for two months, Aravot.am has learned from Shirak Prosecutor Gurgen Grigoryan.

K. Madoyan had decided to help her mother Ts. Madoyan, 84, end her life in order to alleviate her pains, and given her mother the psychiatric drugs—a total of 72 pills—given to her, then took 102 pills of the same psychiatric drugs to end her own life and ended up in a comatose state.

On October 2, Ts. Madoyan had died at Gyumri Medical Center—and without regaining consciousness.

K. Madoyan is registered at the Gyumri Mental Health Center.
