TBILISI. - Official Tbilisi deplores that Armenia did not support Georgia in voting for the resolution on refugees in UN.
“Georgian MFA sent Armenian MFA an official request to support Georgia in UN voting process. However we regret that Armenia did not share Georgia’s official position on the issue, especially when it referred to humanitarian assistance and did not carry political motivation,” deputy FM of Georgia Nino Kalandaze stated at the briefing on Tuesday, Georgia News informs.
However, Kalandaze added that they will continue persuading Armenia that their position is just.
Georgian Deputy FM also stated that Georgia and Armenia have problematic issues to discuss. Georgia is well aware of Armenia’s disposition towards conflicts and declares openly that such attitude is inadmissible for Georgia.
As Armenian News-NEWS.am informed earlier, 29th resolution allows all the refugees to return back to their homeland throughout Georgia independent from ethnicity, who were forced to leave the country. The resolution passed with 57 votes supporting, 13 votes against and 74 abstained votes.
Armenia voted against the resolution.
