YEREVAN.- Armenia’s participation in Eurovision 2012 song contest to be held in Azerbaijan is being discussed, head of the Armenian delegation Gohar Gasparyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.
Gasparyan called rumors the reports saying Armenia will be represented by System of a Down.
“We are deciding whether to participate, everything will be clear in several months,” she said explaining that Armenia’s participation depends on talks with Azerbaijan and European Broadcasting Union regarding security guarantees.
As regards previously announced press conference of this year’s participant Emmy which did not take place, Gasparyan stressed they were too tired and wanted to have a rest.
At the moment major attention is drawn to Junior Eurovision 2011.
“We are holding consultations and meetings with Europeans to discuss technical issues, design and stage. We are clarifying the lists of participants, waiting for final decision of Europeans,” she said.
As Armenian News- NEWS.am reported previously, 12-year-old Vladimir Arzumanyan from Armenia won the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2010 in Minsk, Belarus, Nov. 20. He performed the song “Mairik” (Mother).
