A Statue of a Peacekeeper was unveiled on Wednesday in the premises of a Russian military camp in the vicinity of Stepanakert in honor of the first anniversary of the entrance of the Russian peacekeeping contingent into Nagorno-Karabakh, TASS reports.

Among those attending the solemn ceremony of unveiling the Statue were Deputy Commander of the Southern Military Okrug, Lieutenant General Rustam Muradov and Commander of the Russian peacekeeping contingent in Nagorno-Karabakh Genady Anashkin.

The casted monument portrays a peacekeeper with ammunition and a Kalashnikov on his shoulder, hugging a fragile girl who is giving him a flower bouquet. The prototype of the monument is a real member of the peacekeeping mission.

A time capsule conveying a message to the generations was also placed during the ceremony.
