YEREVAN. – Public attitude towards justice must change radically through new ideas and approaches, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan told at a conference on judicial issues.

The president said that judicial system has implemented positive changes in the past and results are obvious. However, institutional or legislative changes are not sufficient to reach desired results, president’s press service informs Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“We implemented serious changes in legal awareness of the public. People turn to advocates more often to defend their rights in the court. Hence, number of cases increased. However, lack of public trust remains a timely and unsolved issue,” Sargsyan added.

During the conference Armenian Minister of Justice Hrayr Tovmasyan made a report on judicial amendments for 2009-2011 and on strategic project development of the judicial system for 2012-2014.

Assistant to the President Georgy Kutoyan presented report on factors that have negative influence on quick and effective investigation of the judicial cases.
