It’s time for Iran and the U.S. to launch direct talks, Iraq’s Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein said in Tehran.
“We call for direct talks between the two sides, and it’s no secret,” Hussein said.
According to him, Iraq is interested in helping the sides sit down and talk. “We made this offer to the Americans and Iran before our visit to Tehran. It would be better to organize a direct meeting between the American and Iranian sides,” Hossein said, adding that Iraq felt a ‘problem’ with the mechanism for negotiations in Vienna.
The Iraqi foreign minister mentioned that the tension between the long-time rivals has a direct impact on the political situation and security in Iraq and easing the tension will have a positive impact.
