Members of Kazakhstan's government commission came out to the protesters in Aktau and voiced the decisions taken during talks with the initiative group, the country's government press service reports.

The government commission met with activists who gathered at Yntymak Square in Aktau. At the meeting, the decisions made during negotiations with the initiative group were announced, namely on reducing the cost of liquefied gas and setting a price of 50 tenges per liter in the Mangistau region.

The parties agreed to resolve all issues in a constructive dialogue and within the framework of the legislation in force.

Unsanctioned rallies in western Kazakhstan since January 2 have continued against the increase in the price of liquefied gas, which has risen from 60 to 120 tenge per liter since the New Year. Participants chanted "Gas 50", demanding that the price of gas be reduced to 50 KZT per liter, instead of the 80-90 KZT promised by the government. In several cities in Kazakhstan, people took to the streets on January 4 in support of the protesters in the west. In addition to demands for lower gas prices, people began to make demands for improvements in the welfare of the people, for the resignation of the government, etc.
