The official website of the President of Russia has posted the statement by the chairman-in-office of the CSTO Collective Security Council and the Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, on the decision to send CSTO Collective Peacekeeping Forces to Kazakhstan.

The statement has been posted on the website president.rf.

“On the basis of the petition by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and due to the dangers threatening the national security and sovereignty of Kazakhstan, which have come about—including as a result of external interference, the CSTO Collective Security Council, in accordance with Article 4 of the Collective Security Treaty, has made a decision to send CSTO peacekeeping forces to the Republic of Kazakhstan for a limited period of time to stabilize and normalize the situation in that country,” reads this statement by Pashinyan, who is the chairman-in-office of the CSTO Collective Security Council in 2022.

Earlier, this statement was posted on the Facebook page of the Prime Minister of Armenia.

The Collective Security Treaty stipulates that in the event of aggression against one of the CSTO member countries, the others must immediately "provide the necessary assistance, including military assistance" to it, and provide assistance "by the means at their disposal." Currently, Kazakhstan, Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan are members in the CSTO.
