The number of cases of coronavirus infection in the United States since the start of the pandemic has reached 60 million, Johns Hopkins University reported.

According to the university, a total of 60,062,077 COVID-19 infections were registered on American territory. Moreover, more than 837 thousand people died from complications of the disease caused by the virus. The largest number of infections and deaths was found in Los Angeles. Almost two million citizens have been infected there, more than 27 thousand have died.

Since the beginning of December 2021, more than 100 thousand people in the United States have been infected with coronavirus every day. A strong increase in the number of cases began after the celebration of Thanksgiving Day. At the moment, the omicron strain is dominant in the country.
