Australia has entered into an agreement to purchase armored vehicles from the United States for a total of $ 2.5 billion, according to The Sydney Morning Herald.

As part of the modernization of the army park, Australia will purchase 75 M1A2 Abrams tanks from the United States. As the Minister of Defense of the country Peter Dutton noted, the new equipment will replace 59 outdated M1A1 tanks purchased in 2007. Australia will also receive 29 M1150 armored demining vehicles, 17 armored bridgelayers and six armored recovery vehicles.

The first deliveries are expected to take place in 2024. In total, in the coming years, the Australian authorities intend to spend on armored vehicles from $ 30 to 42 billion, the newspaper said.
