US-Russia talks on security guarantees have continued for seven hours in Geneva, RIA Novosti reported.

The discussions began around 9 am (11 am Moscow time) and are taking place behind closed doors at the US Permanent Mission to the Geneva office of the United Nations. The sides were interrupted only for a short lunch.

More than 50 foreign and Russian correspondents have been waiting in front of the US Permanent Mission all this time for the end of the negotiations.

Representatives of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs have offered hot coffee and tea to freezing journalists several times. The meeting was planned to end around 7 pm Moscow time.

On the eve of the official meeting, the head of the Russian delegation, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov, and the head of the US delegation, Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman held a preliminary meeting in a working dinner format.
