The US authorities condemned the missile launch that North Korea made on Saturday, while it did not pose a threat to the US and its allies in the region, TASS reported, citing a statement issued by the Indo-Pacific Command of the US Armed Forces.

"The United States condemns these actions and calls on the DPRK to refrain from further destabilizing acts. While we have assessed that this event does not pose an immediate threat to US personnel, territory, or that of our allies, we will continue to monitor the situation," the statement says.

The Command added that the US "are consulting closely with the Republic of Korea and Japan, as well as other regional allies and partners" over the launch.

A State Department spokesman told TASS in response to a request to comment on the launch, the U.S. together with the international community calls on the DPRK to refrain from further provocations and begin a consistent and substantive dialogue.

Like the DPRK's recent series of ballistic missile tests, this launch is a clear violation of numerous UN Security Council resolutions.

As Kyodo agency earlier reported, it fell outside Japan's exclusive economic zone in the Sea of Japan. There were no reports of damage caused by the incident.
