Director of Russian Political Sociology Institute, expert Vyacheslav Smirnov does not exclude that OSCE MG co-chairs will offer to set peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone, Vesti.Az, reports.
“At this moment the mediators may offer to set peacekeepers in the Karabakh conflict zone. The peacekeepers will either be from Ukraine or Kazakhstan or from the states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization,” he added.
The expert stated that Russia will never resign from negotiation as it is interested in seeing Southern Caucasus in peace. Iran also does not want war. In case situation in Karabakh intensifies, peacekeepers will appear which also concerns Iran.
Besides, Smirnov believes that likelihood of the war does not depend on negotiations, but it does depend on readiness of the sides to take certain risks. Even succeeded talks do not exclude war. Baku has one issue whether international community will secure its fast victory in war and the same fast move to the territories that are currently under Armenian control.
