American students create flying drone based on da Vinci's sketches

American engineers used sketches by Leonardo da Vinci to create a flying drone, according to Cnet.

The device was created by engineering students at the University of Maryland at College Park.

In the 15th century, Leonardo da Vinci proposed the concept of an aircraft using Archimedean screws. The Archimedean screw was developed in ancient times to move water, and for the movement of air, according to modern designers, a propeller of a completely different shape is required.

However, university students used old sketches to create a flying Crimson Spin drone.

The drone is able to take off and move, while unusual propellers generate noise uncharacteristic for drones.
