The US public debt for the first time exceeded 30 trillion dollars, such figures were revealed by the country's Treasury Department, reports the New York Times.
This figure has become a record for the entire time of its existence and in the column "total public debt" is 30.012 trillion dollars.
The corresponding figures were reached earlier than expected and explains this by the significant costs incurred by the United States during the pandemic.
Of these, $5 trillion was used to pay extended unemployment benefits, financial support for small businesses and stimulus payments.
