New Zealand has announced it will begin reopening to the world, ending nearly two years of strict border rules, CNN reported.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern outlined a five-step plan that will allow fully vaccinated New Zealanders to begin traveling later this month. They will need to self-isolate upon arrival, but will not need to settle in government quarantine facilities.

Under the plan, fully vaccinated travelers from Australia or visa-free countries, including the United Kingdom, the United States and many European countries, will be able to enter New Zealand and self-isolate on arrival by July.

The government website states that self-isolation can be at home or suitable alternative accommodation, so it is not yet known whether non-residents will be able to use hotels, rental apartments or other similar facilities for self-isolation purposes.
