Queen Margrethe II of Denmark has tested positive for coronavirus, the press service of the royal court reported.
The Queen is showing only mild symptoms and is currently at Christian IX's palace in Amalienborg, the statement said. The royal court is following all the recommendations of doctors and health authorities, the press service said.
Theplanned winter vacation of 81-year-old Margrethe II, which was supposed to begin on February 9, is canceled. She was going to spend it in Norway.
During the 12-day absence of the function of the head of state, Princess Benedicte of Denmark should have performed, since the crown prince and his wife are also outside the kingdom. Earlier, due to the pandemic, the number of festive events in connection with the 50th anniversary of the reign of Margrethe II was significantly reduced.
The Queen has been vaccinated three times, and first on January 1 last year. She received her third dose at the end of November.
