Any process in the region is in the center of our attention, and we react [to it] if necessary. Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia, Armen Grigoryan, stated this at a press briefing Thursday.
When asked about the position of the Armenian side on the "Shushi Declaration" between Azerbaijan and Turkey, Grigoryan said: "You know that we [i.e., Armenia] assess the security situation around us on a regular basis, and take appropriate steps. Some may be public, some—may not."
The "Shushi Declaration,"—which was signed by Presidents Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Ilham Aliyev of Turkey and Azerbaijan, respectively, on June 15 last year—in particular, states that the two countries will act together in the event of a threat or aggression against them by a third country. The declaration notes also that, "The parties will continue their joint efforts to modernize, in accordance with modern requirements, the armed forces of the two brotherly countries."
