Azerbaijan is committing a cultural genocide in the occupied territories of Karabakh. Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) Foreign Minister David Babayan told this to reporters in Yerevan on Saturday.

"Cultural genocide is carried out in various ways," Babayan stressed. "Barbaric destructions of [Armenian] monuments, cemeteries are taking place. In parallel, attempts are being made to de-Armenianize those monuments, to attribute [them] to the Albanians. That is nonsense. The Azerbaijani side undertakes such attempts in cases when it is unable to level the monument to the ground; for example, the Dadivank [Monastery]. This is as absurd as [Turkish President] Erdogan's claim that the Turks were the first to land on the Moon. They call the Sumerians Azerbaijanis, too. The civilized world must respond to Azerbaijan's [such] actions."
