The Iraqi authorities want to purchase 14 French multi-role fighters Rafale in the amount of $240 million, while the deal will be paid for with oil, according to Defense News, citing the head of the geopolitical consulting company NAMEA Group, Norman Ricklefs, head of the geopolitical consultancy NAMEA Group as well as a former adviser to Iraq's interior minister.

The Iraqi Air Force intends to purchase 14 Rafale fighter jets for $240 million, which will be paid for in oil, not cash, Ricklefs told the publication.

Also, according to Ricklefs, France offered to sell 20 drones to Iraq.

Currently, the Iraqi Defense Ministry is conducting a technical analysis, he said, noting that the contract has not yet been concluded.

According to the publication, an Iraqi delegation is planning to visit France in the near future to check the quality of the drones. The French side has not yet responded to a request for comment on this information.

Iraq is also negotiating drones with Pakistan, Ricklefs said.

Pakistan has also offered to sell 20 drones to Iraq, but the MoD is still analyzing the offer, he said.
