Britain's Queen Elizabeth II took part in her first official event since her eldest son Prince Charles tested positive for the coronavirus last week,  TASS reported.

Photos from the 95-year-old monarch's online audiences with foreign ambassadors circulated on Tuesday by the Buckingham Palace press office.

Elizabeth II held virtual meetings with the heads of diplomatic missions of Estonia and Spain, Villar Luby and Jose Pascual Marco Martinez, who arrived at the London residence of the queen. Both diplomats arrived at Buckingham Palace accompanied by their spouses to present their credentials to Her Majesty.

On 10 February it was revealed that Prince Charles of Wales had contracted the coronavirus for a second time. The heir to the throne suffered a mild form of COVID-19 in March 2020. At the same time, the media reported that Prince Charles had met Elizabeth II shortly before testing positive. According to the British press, the monarch was not found to have any symptoms of Covid.

A wave of infections with the Omicron strain of coronavirus is now on the wane in the UK, but there are still around 50,000 new infections per day.
