The European Union will spend 6 billion euros on the analogue of the British system OneWeb, Bloomberg reported, citing the European Commissioner for the Internal Market Thierry Breton.

The EU budget will allocate 2.4 billion for the project. The rest should come from EU countries and European industry groups. Breton said that it was of paramount importance in terms of strategic and technical sovereignty.

In February, a Soyuz-ST-B rocket carrying a cluster of 34 OneWeb satellites lifted off from the Kourou launch site.
