Israeli farmer Chahi Ariel has grown the largest strawberry in the world, according to the Guinness Book of Records.
At 289 grams, strawberries are about five times the average weight of a typical local Ilan berry, researcher says.
According to the record book website, unusually cold weather in early 2021 slowed the ripening process of strawberries, allowing them to continue to gain weight.
The previous record was held by a Japanese farmer who discovered a 250-gram strawberry in his crop in 2015.
