The leaders of the Quad countries (USA, Australia, India and Japan) reaffirmed their commitment to a free and open Indo-Pacific region, in which the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all states are respected, and countries are free from military, economic and political coercion.

Together with US President Joe Biden, Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida discussed the ongoing conflict and humanitarian crisis in Ukraine and assessed its broader implications.

They agreed to establish a new humanitarian and disaster relief mechanism that will enable Quad to address future humanitarian challenges in the Indo-Pacific and provide a channel of communication to respond to the crisis in Ukraine.

They also agreed to meet in person in Tokyo in the coming months.
