BAKU. - Russia prepared new offer for Azerbaijan on modernization of Qabala radar station, Russian MOD Anatoly Serdyukov told the journalists in Baku on Monday after the meeting with his counterpart Safar Abiyev, RIA Novosti reports.

According to the minister, new working group will be formed in the near future. It will come to Baku and will study technical issues related to modernization.

”We can discuss all the points of the agreement (for future exploitation of the radar station) in details with my colleague on August 15,” Russian MOD told.

The radar station in Qabala region started exploitation in 1985. It can control over 6000 km territory around, including Iran, Turkey, India, Middle East, Indian Ocean and a part of Australia. Russia signed a contract in 2002 to rent the station till 2012. Annual price is $7 million.
