Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison has declared a state of emergency in the country due to flooding on the east and northeast coast of the continent..

Affected communities will receive additional funding: A$210 million ($152.9 million) for cleanup and repairs, A$31.2 million ($22.7 million) for welfare and assistance to people in need, A$5 million ($18.2 million) for food and essential supplies for flood-isolated communities. In addition, A$18 million ($13 million) will be used to rebuild schools and nurseries, health care centers and clinics, and to pay staff hired for the restoration work.
