The European Union has a moral duty to make Ukraine a member and should consider using military force to counter 'Russian aggression.' Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas, speaking at the EU summit in Strasbourg, Euronews reported.

According to her, the EU has changed more in one week than in 30 years.

Kallas urged Brussels to invest in the most advanced defense technologies.

As we strengthen European defenses, we need to come to a consensus within the EU that sometimes the best way to achieve peace is to be willing to use military force, she said.

Ukraine has requested accelerated EU membership. In the weeks that followed, both Moldova and Georgia also applied for membership.

The EU voted overwhelmingly in favor of granting Ukraine candidate status last week, but the accession process is long and complicated. The countries of the Western Balkans have been negotiating membership for more than a decade.
