Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz have discussed the situation around Ukraine, the Kremlin press service reported.

They discussed options for political and diplomatic efforts in the context of developments around the special military operation to protect Donbas, in particular the results of the third round of talks between the Russian delegation and representatives of the Kiev authorities.

"In addition, it was highlighted the humanitarian aspects of the situation in Ukraine and in the Donbas republics. The Russian President informed about measures to organize humanitarian corridors for the evacuation of civilians from the areas of hostilities and attempts by nationalist fighters to prevent the safe evacuation of people. It was agreed to continue contacts at various levels," the report said.
