A serviceman of the Pskov Guards Airborne Assault Division, 18-year-old Davit Harutyunyan, died in Ukraine during fights on 1 March, only a few days before his 19th birthday.

According to the Kyakhta-info 24/7, Davit Harutyunyan was born on 8 March, 2003, in Kyakhta. He studied at Kyakhta Secondary School No. 3. After graduating from 9th grade in 2018, he entered college, graduated in 2021, getting a profession of auto mechanic. In the spring of 2021 he was drafted into the Russian Army and sent to serve in the 344th Guards Airborne Assault Regiment of the 76th Guards Airborne Assault Division stationed in Pskov. After taking the oath, Davit signed a contract of military service.

In February 2022 he participated as part of the regiment in the international exercise "Allied Resolute", according to the results of which he was noted in the best way by the unit's command.

He took part in a special operation in the territory of the Donetsk and Luhansk people's republics.

"On 1 March, 2022, Harutyunyan received the task of advancing as part of the column of the battalion-tactical group. While passing a populated area, the column came under enemy artillery fire, as a result of which the self-propelled artillery unit was hit and lost its course. Davit took command of the combat vehicle, organized a roll call among the crew of the combat vehicle, found out that the driver mechanic was unconscious. Acting decisively, he pulled his comrade out of the vehicle and carried him to a hideout. On the way, Davit received several shrapnel wounds in his back. He managed to get his unconscious comrade to the hideout, but his wounds proved fatal. For courage, bravery and selflessness displayed in the performance of military duty, D.A. Harutyunyan was awarded the Order of Courage (posthumously)," the statement said.
