The United States will supply Switchblade drones to Ukraine, CNN reported, citing two sources familiar with the matter.
According to AeroVironment, which makes the drones, the smallest model can hit a target up to six miles away. It is not yet clear which model the US will send to Ukraine.
The Switchblade drones were added to Ukraine's extensive list of requested military and technological assistance after Ukrainian officials consulted with congressional partners on a draft list last weekend.
The day before, US President Joe Biden announced an additional $800 million in military assistance for Ukraine. The aid package includes 800 shoulder-mounted Stinger anti-aircraft systems and 9,000 anti-armor systems, including 2,000 Javelin systems, 1,000 light anti-armor weapons and 6,000 AT-4 antiarmor systems, according to a White House fact sheet.
