Ukraine's neutral status and its non-accession to NATO are the topics on which Moscow and Kiev have brought their positions as close as possible in the negotiations, the head of the Russian delegation, presidential aide Vladimir Medinsky told reporters on Friday, TASS reported.

"The topic of Ukraine's neutral status and non-accession to NATO is one of the key points of the negotiations, this is the point on which the parties have brought their positions as close as possible," he said.

Medinsky noted that these points have nuances related to security guarantees for Ukraine. "Nuances related to what security guarantees Ukraine receives in addition to the existing ones in case it refuses to join the NATO bloc," he explained.

According to him, Moscow and Kiev are "about halfway through the negotiations" on the issue of Ukraine's demilitarization.

"As for demilitarization, I would say fifty-fifty. The fact is that I am not authorized to disclose any details of the negotiations and I will not do so, neither specific figures nor arguments of the negotiating parties, but in this part we are about halfway there," he noted.
