The ruling majority "Civil Contract" Faction of the National Assembly (NA) has again spoken out against criminalizing the statements against the territorial integrity of Armenia. Faction MP Vahagn Hovakimyan stated about this at Tuesday’s NA session debates on the draft amendments to the Criminal and Criminal Procedure Code, which had earlier been rejected at the respective NA standing committee.

According to him, the territorial integrity of Armenia is fully protected from any encroachment.

"This matter has been resolved by our current legislation—within the framework of the Criminal Code. Moreover, the proposed approach may cause specific complications. So, from the point of view of legal certainty, the bill you have submitted does not withstand any criticism," Hovakimyan said, addressing the NA opposition.
