Poland suggested to US officials that Russia be excluded from the G20, a proposal that received a positive response.

Polish Economic Development and Technology Minister Piotr Nowak said the issue was discussed at meetings held in Washington last week.

During meetings, including with U.S. Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo, we came up with a proposal to exclude Russia from the G20, which was met with a positive response and approval, and the issue is subject to discussion by President Joe Biden, Novak told reporters in Warsaw.

There was no response from the US Department of Commerce. Without commenting specifically on Poland's statement, one US source said Russia had violated international norms and therefore its actions in multilateral forums must have consequences, Reuters reports.
