Polish President Andrzej Duda said he did not understand the position of the Hungarian authorities towards Russia, reported Kommersant daily of Russia.

Budapest had previously opposed the embargo on Russian energy carriers, refused to provide weapons to Ukraine, and banned supplies on its territory.

“It is also difficult for me to understand this because this policy will cost Hungary very dearly,” Duda told TVN24.

The President of Poland believes that Hungary is highly dependent on energy supplies from Russia.

On Saturday, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban responded to criticism of Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy about the ban on the provision of weapons to Ukraine through Hungarian territory. Orban said Budapest was defending its national interests.

Earlier, the prime minister said the European Union would not impose sanctions that would affect Russia’s natural gas and oil, so Hungary’s energy sector would be safe in the coming season.
