Foreign and European Affairs Minister Ivan Korcok said, during the Doha Forum on Sunday, that Slovakia is negotiating with Qatar about natural gas supplies’ possible options from this country to replace supplies to Slovakia from Russia, RIA Novosti reported.

"Today I held talks with representatives of Qatar about possible options for the supply of liquefied natural gas from this country," Korcok said.

Also, the minister reminded that 85% of the natural gas used in Slovakia comes from Russia.

But the Qatari Minister of State for Energy Affairs, Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, said that it would not be possible to replace Russian natural gas in Europe with that gas from other producers in one day, as it would take five to seven years. He added that Qatar’s current natural gas capacity would not meet European demand.
