The most significant progress in the negotiations between Russia and Ukraine was achieved in Istanbul during the meeting of the Russian and Ukrainian delegations, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said, TASS reported.

"We can see that some progress was made at today's meeting and some issues were agreed upon," the Turkish foreign minister claimed without giving any details.

In addition, according to Cavusoglu, some "more complicated issues should be discussed at the level of the presidents" of Russia and Ukraine Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Cavusoglu expressed hope that the establishment of a ceasefire in Ukraine will lead to a long-term political settlement.
