Britain will not accept the demand of Russian President Vladimir Putin to pay for Russian gas in rubles, said a spokesman for the British Prime Minister, CNN reported.

According to him, British Energy Minister Kwasi Kwarteng has made it clear that "Britain will not do it." He added that Britain would study the measure's impact on the European market.

Russian President Vladimir Putin had previously signed a decree to pay in rubles for Russian gas supplies.
