CIA Director William Burns was tested positive for COVID-19.

According to a statement from the agency, Burns has mild symptoms, is working from home and plans to return to the office in five days. Burns is fully vaccinated.

Burns last met with President Joe Biden Wednesday morning in a socially distant meeting in which the director wore an N-95 mask. The agency reports that Burns is not considered a close contact of the president by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's standards.

Biden has not been known to test positive for the virus since the pandemic began. Several people have contracted the coronavirus in recent weeks shortly after meeting with the president, including press secretary Jen Psaki, deputy press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre and Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin.
