US lawmakers are calling on the Joe Biden administration to increase arms supplies to Ukraine, CNN reports.

Democratic Party representatives Andy Kim and Jason Crowe and GOP member Peter Meyer in a letter to Biden called for more weapons, including long-range surface-to-air missiles, fighter jets and anti-ship missiles. Lawmakers say their request is based on a wish list provided by Ukrainian officials to Capitol Hill last week, which lists 17 areas where Ukraine needs more help.

The lawmakers' request also includes an increase in shipments of Stinger anti-aircraft missiles and Javelin anti-tank missiles, which are running low in Ukraine, as well as longer-range drones.

U.S. officials noted that they are providing Ukrainians with weapons they can use, while suggesting that some requests - such as fighter jets - are not as practical as other needs.

Legislators, however, argue that Ukraine lacks fighter jets.
