German tuning studio RUF, known for its deep modifications of Porsche sports cars, has been creating exclusive modifications of cars from Stuttgart for more than 75 years. Among the rare models is the RT12 R, which was based on the Porsche 911 coupe of the 997 generation, Motor reported.

At the auction there was a chance to get one of the 13 RUF RT12 R produced, which is also one of the two rear-wheel drive sports cars of this model. And the car is in perfect condition.

RUF Automobile presented the RT12 project in the fall of 2004 at a tuning show in Essen - the company's work was one of the first in the world to deeply refine the 911 coupe of the then-new body (997).

The main changes affected the technique - the displacement of the 3.6-liter 6-cylinder boxer engine was increased to 3.8 liters, and the power increased from 560 to 685 horsepower for the RUF RT12 S version - and immediately up to 730 horsepower for the RUF RT12 R variant. At the request of the client, the sports car could have both full and rear-wheel drive.

One of the two rear wheel drive cars is now up for auction by Mecum. The cost of the car, which has traveled only 445 kilometers since 2015, is not known. In February, on the Bring a Trailer site, a similar model with rear-wheel drive, but with a mileage of almost 27.5 thousand kilometers, went under the hammer for an impressive 910 thousand dollars. So the price tag of a RUF RT12 R with less mileage should clearly exceed a million dollars.
