US President Joe Biden will hold a virtual meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi as Washington made it clear it does not want more Russian energy imports to India, Reuters reports.

President Biden will continue to consult closely on the implications of Russia's brutal war against Ukraine and mitigating its destabilizing impact on global food supplies and commodity markets, spokeswoman Jen Psaki said.

Daleep Singh, US Deputy National Security Advisor for International Economics, who recently visited India, said the United States would not place any red line on India's energy imports from Russia, but did not want to see a dramatic acceleration in purchases.

India has bought at least 13 million barrels of Russian crude oil since the start of the Ukrainian crisis.
