Canada is imposing sanctions on companies in the Russian defense sector and is exploring options for additional measures.

The sanctions impose restrictions on 33 Russian defense companies for providing assistance to the Russian military in conflict, the government said in a statement.

These organizations provided indirect or direct support to the Russian military and are therefore complicit in the pain and suffering associated with Vladimir Putin’s senseless war in Ukraine, the statement said.

Canada continues to monitor the situation, coordinate with its international partners and explore options for new measures.
