French President Emmanuel Macron has admitted that it is possible in his country to hold a referendum on pension reform, which includes raising the retirement age. It is reported by BFMTV.

In France, the minimum retirement age is set at 62 for men and women. However, a citizen receives a full pension if his work experience is not less than 41.5 years. In total, the current system contains 42 different retirement regimes.

According to the government's plans, as a result of the pension reform in France, the age should increase from 62 to 65 years, which caused mass protests. At the first stage, the government plans to issue a full pension from 2025 only from the age of 64. Macron's runoff rival Marine Le Pen opposes pension reform.
